2014 Year In Review : Lesson from Dramas

Instead of my usual year-end review, I decided to divide them in different category. Anyway, most of Johnny-starring dramas this year are ratings nightmare, but it doesn’t really mean that they were all that bad. In fact, I’ve learned so much with each dramas and that is something I want to share. Lessons I learned from Dramas Shitsuren Chocolatier What I learned : Chocolate is a cure for heartbreak but it doesn’t make you immune from it and it doesn’t make you a better lover either. Yowakutemo Katemasu What I learned : Forget all about theories and experiments, you’ll still lose. Shinigami-kun What I learned : You can extend your life span but you’ll still die. Nobunaga no Chef season 2 What I learned : Food is mightier than sword. After all, no one fights a battle on an empty stomach. SMOKING GUN What I learned : Food is mightier than a gun and it all takes a donut.

Poster Unveiled for “Assassination Classroom” Movie

One of the most awaited live-adaptation movie next year that will surely be a hit. Based from popular manga of Matsui Yuusei, Assassination Classroom or Ansatsu Kyoshitsu tells the story of an alien homeroom teacher who came to earth to teach the students of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School on different ways of assassination. The students of Class 3-E (End class) were entrusted by the Japanese government to kill their teacher for the prize of 10 Billion Yen before graduation and before he can destroy the earth. However, the task have been proven difficult as their “Korosensei” possessed several inhuman capabilities. Yamada Ryosuke will play the role of Shiota Nagisa, he look weak but his information gathering is the best, and it’s clearly obvious with the pen and notepad that he’s holding in the poster. Yamada doesn’t look that of an assassin but wait until you see the trailer and shooting bullets has never been cool. Now, I’m just super excited for Yamada’s role in “Grasshopper”. I think these type of roles suit Yamada since it’s …

Rants & Raves : Look-alike and Junk Mails

Final exams are almost over and I can finally blog more often until the next semester. So in between trying to pass my exams and watching three dramas this season, here is my occasional rants and raves. Shibutanu Subaru’s “Misono Universe” movie will be shown in Feb 14, 2015 Rant : Valentines day? Even Ryo’s sappy movie didn’t get a V-day release date. Rave : I think  the date has nothing to do with the movie’s plot but one thing is for sure, Subaru will get loads of chocolates! Nishikido Ryo’s “Gomen ne Seishun” and Maruyama Ryuhei’s “Jigoku Sensei Nube” started with average ratings (>10%) but eventually falls during their 2nd episode.  Rant : This is why it’s important to create strong first impressions because people easily gets bored. Rave : I might be saying this because I like GNS but the hell with the ratings! It’s great! Rant : People who say, “the hell with the ratings”, are actually those who cared a lot about it and ratings gives advertisers which gives money to the …

Rants & Raves : Rainy Rant

It’s been raining A LOT from where I am, not a day would pass without even a droplet of rain on the road, and I blame the rain for making me lazier. So, I decided to pass time doing this and hopefully you could find time to read this as you pass your own time. Cheers to rainy days filled with boredom. Here is my occasional Rants and Raves…

First Impressions on Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo N (Neo)

Watching Kindaichi’s first episode can be a bit discouraging with it being an hour and 34 minutes long. I was thinking on how the writers will end-up dragging the story just to extend it with the alloted time. However, despite the longer plot for the it’s first episode, “Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo N” is not boring with the “whodunnit?” story being executed well. Kindaichi receives 12.4% for their pilot episode, average by standards, but not at all underrated nor overrated. Here is a quick recap of Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo N (neo): Episode 1 [The Silver Screen Devilish Murder]
